Will my old computer work?

Most 64-bit desktops and laptops from 2010 onward can be resurrected. Our helpdesk checks the details and picks the right agent build.

Minimum requirements.

64-bit processor

Intel Core i3 / AMD equivalent or newer. 2 cores minimum. 4 cores recommended.

4 GB RAM minimum

8 GB is comfortable for most local agents. More RAM lets you run larger local models without an API key.

64 GB storage

The Linux environment and agent take about 20 GB. Leave room for models and your files.

Internet during setup

A wired or Wi-Fi connection is required only while our helpdesk installs the agent. After setup, you control the connection.

What the helpdesk checks.

  • CPU instruction set. AVX/AVX2 support, core count, and thermal headroom.
  • Memory profile. Total RAM, speed, and whether swap is healthy.
  • GPU detection. Integrated graphics are fine. Discrete GPUs unlock larger local models.
  • Storage health. SMART data is read; failing drives are flagged before install.
  • Network path. The helpdesk tests the route back to our office and opens only the ports it needs.
